One Trillion Frames Per Second...

This is so unbelievably cool - The folks at MIT have built an imaging system that allows them to produce video shot at one trillion frames per second - fast enough to allow them to photograph the propagation of light. The science behind it is just as fascinating - the Titanium Sapphire Laser they use as a pulsed illumination source, the electromagnetic field used to bend the light to their will - the multiple layering of subsequent images to produce the final, 2d video.
